Creating a Simple Runbook

The most basic form of Runbook will have an Implementation Phase with one Stage (the minimum Runbook requirement) in ICEFLO.   Users can perform this function if they have Admin, Manager or Author permissions in ICEFLO.

A Runbook can be created in one of three ways:

You can Create a Runbook, Clone an existing Runbook or Clone an Event.

Navigate to the Runbooks menu

Click Create Runbook

Enter the Runbook Details

Enter STP Details

On the Create Runbook screen:

Insert a meaningful Runbook name (Max 30 Characters) and select from the drop down-lists: the Group, the Runbook Class, the Programme, the Project, the Portfolio and the Environment to which you wish to register this Runbook. These attributes are likely to be pre-populated by your ICEFLO Administrator.

The available Groups on the Group drop-down list include the Groups of which you are a member.  By registering the Runbook to one of those Groups, you will be restricting access to and visibility of this Runbook to members of the selected Group.

At this point you also have the ability to add a Pre Implementation Phase and Post Implementation Phase to the Runbook, these phases are not mandatory therefore are optional checkboxes. From here you also have the option to add a Backout Plan to the Runbook. If you opt not to add a Pre Imp,Post Imp or Backout, they can be added at later stage during the construction process.

Click Create Runbook.

Maintain STP - What is it telling me?

After creating a Runbook, the initial details will look something like the Runbook above.  Note the following aspects of the Runbook:

The Runbook is in an Initial state.  Runbook Tasks and a Schedule have yet to be added

The User who creates an Runbook is automatically assigned as the Deployment Lead.
