Component Misalignment

Once components have been mapped to Stages you may see that a dark blue count in the top left of the increase. This is the Misaligned Component Count.

A component will be highlighted as being misaligned if it breaches any of the four threshold which are set on creation of the plan. These thresholds are:

  • Early Start Tolerance - the amount of time which the stages can be scheduled to start before the component before being flagged as misaligned
  • Late Start Tolerance - the amount of time which the stages can be scheduled to start after the component before being flagged as misaligned
  • Less Duration Tolerance - the minimum difference in duration between the Stage Duration of the Stages mapped to the Component and the Component Duration
  • More Duration Tolerance - the maximum difference in duration between the Stage Duration of the Stages mapped to the Component and the Component Duration

Viewing the Misalignment

The dark blue count which shows the number of components which have been misaligned. To highlight the components which are misaligned, from the Display Options show the Component Driver Times. On adding this into your view you will see that a light blue line appear above the Components, this shows the Start Times and Durations of the Stages which are mapped to the components.

These blue lines highlight the discrepancies between the Component times and the Stage Driver times, allowing for the relevant amendments to be made to either the Stage Driver times or the Component times. In the example above we can see that the time allocation of the Components is much larger than the Duration of the Stages, these are represented via the light blue lines.

If no change are made the Components will remain misaligned but will not impact the Stages them self.

As amendments are made to the either the Components or the Stages which are aligned to the  misaligned count will reduce to show that the alignment is not breaching and of the tolerances which have been set.
